Credo Quilts

February 2015 | Creative Direction, Design

As founder and designer, I created a small collection of handmade blankets under the brand name, Credo. Beginning with design, I created eight quilt patterns intended to be made in the tradition of hand craftsmanship. To ensure quality and and this artisanal aesthetic, I collaborated with a 40-year old Mennonite sewing circle based in Waterloo County, Ontario.

My vision for the project was to create a new take on an old art form through collaboration. In doing this, the Mennonites—uncredited, as was their request—and I came to share a philosophy of simplicity, devotion, and technique.

I enlisted portraitist Luis Mora for documentation, and utilized my own creative network as models. The imagery features key members of Toronto’s creative community: documentary reporter Jojo Chintoh, music producer Marco Lee, singer-songwriter Daniel Caesar, DJ Sophie Jones, Illustrator Josh Pong, and artist Mark Puchala, to name a few.

I launched a website to showcase and sell the quilts, and featured the product through innovative and fashion-forward editorial productions for digital and print.
